“Out Of This World” UFO Festival and Conference in Edinburg Texas

The annual “Out Of This World” UFO Festival and Conference in Edinburg is listed at No. 3 and could climb those rankings after this year’s event.
The festival will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at 415 W. University Drive. Admission is free. The festival will include vendors and crafts and, of course, UFO attraction including a tent where visitors can get their tinfoil hats, a telescope area, a UFO moon jump, autopsy station, planetarium and a laser show inside the Edinburg Auditorium
The conference is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, 118 Paseo Del Prado Drive. Tickets are $30 per person at eventbrite.com or at the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library in Edinburg.
Speaker will include Travis Walton, Nick Pope, and Stephen Bassett to name a few.
Edinburg isn’t just a random city, with a random festival however. The event is in connection with a 1966 Edinburg UFO incident on Farm to Market Road 290, approximately four miles west of U.S. 281 and witnessed by eight people. Those witnesses, who were working at the time digging a gravel pit around midnight.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area after a driver saw a group of men who seemed to be activing strange. According to Edinburgculturalarts.com, “The men told the deputies of having seen bright lights in the sky and of hearing a loud humming or throbbing sound. They also experienced sudden, strong winds on an otherwise calm night, and they saw flames shoot down out of the sky, presumably from one of the UFOs that had been previously seen hovering in the area. The beam of fire set ablaze all the surrounding area, including their vehicles and their mobile home.”

For years there have been stories of astronauts who have purportedly observed unidentified objects while in Earth orbit, or even en route to the Moon. Most recently, Buzz Aldrin, second man to walk on the moon during his mission with Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins aboard Apollo 11 in July of 1969, has drawn public attention for discussing a purported UFO that was seen during the mission.
Two days after discarding the S4B, Aldrin and the crew aboard Apollo 11 became aware of a bright light nearby, which they considered might have been the rocket they had discarded. Back at Mission Control, radio operators received the now famous and controversial message from the Apollo 11 crew:
