The resident said: “I took this video from my house in Frome.
Scott Brando, who runs hoax-busting website ufoofinterest.org was the first to come forward and suggest it was a kite or acrobatic aircraft with pyrotechnics, providing video clips of both making a similar swirling effect.
AeroSPARX, an aircraft aerobatic team that performs at air shows across Europe, came forward with an explanation.
